That will depend... on what the application committees say :)
Aren't they pretty?
Distillery Barrel Coffee is made from coffee beans aged in spirit barrels. All barrels are locally sourced from Shenandoah Valley distillers. The craft demands a bespoke approach: every barrel has different levels of char (the deliberate burning of the wood inside the barrel that gives the spirit its smoky oak flavor) and different amounts of alcohol vapor, depending on how long the barrel originally held the spirit. So each barrel needs to be independently evaluated before any decisions for aging beans inside it are made. Then the roasting itself needs to be tailored accordingly; the roasting temperature and duration need to toast the beans to the right roast level without burning up all the good oaky spirit notes. It is a unique craft process.

The coffee itself is unique in that, unlike other “flavored” coffees, it contains no artificial colors, flavors or aromatics. The taste of bourbon or whiskey or rye comes from a natural infusion of vapor inside the oak barrel. Moreover, it is non-alcoholic – although if someone wants to add a nip of spirit to their cup, who could blame them?
